I don't know why everyone complains about its historical accuracy . . .

The whole movie is Dilios telling the story to his army before a battle: now what happens when someone tells a story? Things are blown out of proportion and exageratterd for effect. That's why the black wolf looked like a hell hound, and immortals looked like orcs, and why the elephants looked like the mumakil from LOTR.

I thought the movie was great; a perfect movie to go see with your buds.

The intent of the film, 300, was not to accurately illustrate history. It was to do a cinematic version of the Frank Miller graphic novel (emphasis on GRAPHIC) and to take a lot of creative license in doing so. The filmmakers were very clear on that from the beginning. It's an exercise in art, not history, and if you can't appreciate that, you'll waste your money seeing it.

Have any of you seen "Sin City", the first adaptation of a Frank Miller graphic novel, directed by two of favorite directors, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino? Rodriguez actually was the one who sold Frank Miller on the idea of doing a film version of his novel.

Lots of blood and gore in it as well and Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke and Benicio Del Toro and Michael Madsen and Rutger Hauer and hookers in fishnets... and very graphically true to the Frank Miller vision... and definitely a guy movie... but I liked it a lot too.

^ I thought Sin City was a lot more "gory" than 300. Anything that had to do with Kevin (Elijah) really grossed me out.

Oh Yeesh... yeah. I knew I'd forget someone... and Elijah Wood's character was really unforgettable. Thanks for reminding me. *shivers*

The studios are going to have to do something very special to beat this as best movie of 2007.

Outstanding all the way through.

Purely on entertainment value, only PotC:World's End can come close or match it this year.
Very, very well done.

Lol i also thought Xeres was a ritualist. I think Leonidas and his spartans were more of a well coordinated R12+++ iway warriors . In history Spartans did wear a bronze battle armor, they did not go out to battle with just their undies and there were 2 battles that occured at the Themoplyae area one on the ground led by Leonidas and the other one was in the sea (Ardemesian Straits) led by Themositcles (plz forgive me with my spelling of the names they are a little in inaccurate) not alot is known about the battle led by Themosticles so i can understand why it wasnt showed in the movies. Also the red plume on a Spartan leader's helm should have gone side to side instead of going straight down, because thats how they showed their rank. Even though it wasnt based on actual history and more on the comicbook i loved it. Overall best movie I've ever seen this year. Lets see if the tranformers movie or spiderman 3 can top 300.

I don't know, Spiderman 3 might get close to what 300 done but haven't the series got drawn out yet. I mean Spiderman 2 was decent but not as great as the first one.

Battle scenes 8/10 overall mainly because of the graphics not choreography or accuracy etc. The movie overall 6/10. I saw the movie with a friend who likes this sort of movie (we watched Alexander etc) and we liked the action. The movie started really boring and was a bit sloppy story-wise. It seemed like it was borrowing heavily from Gladiator. Some scenes seemed like a straight rip off IMHO. It was also a short movie (shortened to pay for all the hype?). It just sort of lacked depth. Just my opinion. Worth seeing I guess.

Great movie, really loved it. I thought it was a extremely well done movie. The fight scenes actually were fairly accurate with how real Spartans would of fought. The 300 Spartans were just a Delta Group of the real Spartan Army. Just an absolutly fabulously done movie. Loved it.
